Comfort Company Curve Wheelchair Cushion

To provide support and comfort while distributing pressure, the Curve Wheelchair Cushion by Comfort Company is made with a high-density foam that envelops the body. High-density foam helps maintain skin integrity by taking the pressure off of susceptible areas, such as those around bony prominences. Mild contours add pleasant positioning with both abduction and adduction supports. To ensure alignment of the legs, a medial thigh separator is included on the Curve Wheelchair Cushion. This feature keeps the hips in a forward-facing position to prevent rotation while promoting proper posture. A mild anti-thrust shelf features a higher front surface and lower back surface to keep the wheelchair user from sliding forward. This position keeps the pelvis aligned in a neutral position and alleviates sacrum pain. Used as an alternative to wheelchair cushions with pommels, the anti-thrust shelf is particularly useful for male patients and those with increased extensor tone. Called the Curve because the bottom surface has a curved shaping to it, this wheelchair cushion works particularly well on sling-style wheelchair seats but can be used on flat bottomed wheelchair seats as well. A non-skid bottom and 2 Velcro patches on the bottom ensures that the cushion stays firmly in place, especially during transfers. The Comfort-Tek Cushion Cover, which is ideal with wheelchair users who have incontinence issues, is made with a polyurethane material that can be easily cleaned to stop the spread of infection. This smooth and soft polyester-backed cover also stretches. Both wheelchair cushion covers are made with latex-free material. To make the wheelchair user visible to others in low light environments, reflective piping is included on the Curve Wheelchair Cushion. This ability to reflect light sources allows for the wheelchair to be visible up to 500 feet away.
